Canon and Sony have continued to produce incredible cameras and lenses for all kinds of photography. For portrait photography, wide aperture 85mm lenses are one of the popular options. The large and expensive 85mm f/1.4 lenses are great; however, over the last few years, f/1.8 primes are starting to become better options in some regards.
Sony recently announced the FE 50mm f/1.2 GM, a spectacular lens that pushes the boundaries of the E mount. It seems they are not slowing down, as we will likely see three more lenses next week.
An ultra-wide angle zoom lens is a useful tool for many different genres, and while the professional standard of such lenses is usually f/2.8, those who do not need that extra stop can save a lot of weight and money by opting for an f/4 version.
