Comparing 8K Video on the Canon EOS R5 and Sony a1

The Canon EOS R5 and Sony a1 are the talk of the town right now, with their 8K video capabilities turning a lot of heads. If you are wondering which one is right for your own work, check out this great video review that takes a deep look at the video capabilities of both cameras.

Coming to you from Tony & Chelsea Northrup, this excellent video review takes a look at the video capabilities of the Sony a1 and Canon EOS R5 and all the details surrounding them. Both the a1 and R5 offer 8K video capabilities, and while some may see it as overkill, there is something to be said for the flexibility that 8K offers, such as the ability to crop in to 4K in post as needed, whether to create movement effects or simply to zoom in. Of course, the downside is the increased storage and processing power needed to handle such footage. Beyond that, I have to say I’m highly impressed by the high ISO capabilities of both cameras. Even just a few years ago, the thought that you could get usable video from ISO 16,000 would have sounded absurd, but both cameras put out impressive footage.

Check out the video above for the full rundown from the Northrups.
