Halloween might not be my favorite “holiday”, but it does bring with it some fantastic photoshoots. In this video, watch as Lindsay Adler creates some stunning Medusa-themed portraits using LEDs.
I feel as if I have been following Adler from afar for over a decade and her work has only improved in that time. This shoot is stunning, from styling to lighting, and the final images are portfolio-worthy for any photographer. The model is also incredible. However, what I love about this shoot is a little further removed.
In the last few years, my direction with my portraiture has gone a way many would likely criticize. While I use strobe lighting for most corporate shoots, any shoot where I am using styling or it’s a more editorial feel, I opt for multiple LEDs. The power, control, and RGB elements of LED lighting have transformed it from video-only to a powerful tool for photographers too.
In this video, Lindsay Adler uses 5 Nanlite Pavotubes to create punchy, colorful, and memorable lighting on her model. I have a number of LED lights I reach for, most of them Aputure, but tube lights are still on my wishlist. This video is the perfect demonstration of what can be achieved with the right setup and styling, using only LEDs for light.
